Old Fishing Island.

Near the vertex where the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea meet, at the eastern end of the Yucatan Peninsula, is Holbox Island, 36 km long and 1 km in its widest part: to the north and to the west, the Gulf bathes its coasts and on the west side the sea enters through the Conil mouth to form the Yalahau Lagoon in the south.
